Exporting multiple stl files of the object with the same origin

HI All,

This is my work flow:

1. Create an assembly file (.iam) in inventor and upload them to fusion 360

2. Convert some of the bodies in the assembly to volumetric lattice in fusion 360

3. save multiple stl files of each parts to be printed later in a multi-material printer (stratasys in mycase)

Currently I am facing an issue:

When i choose to import multiple stl files in the printer, the stl files are not arranged according to thier coordinates as seen in fusion 360/inventor.

is there anything I can do to to resolve this isue?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The arrangement is created in the slicer.

Do you slice with Fusion or with an external slicer?

@chidanand.hegde If you make just the components visible you want to export then right click the top node\folder in the browser and use Save Mesh, the document origin will be used and all bodies should export relative to the document origin. Also select One File per body, be careful you only have one body per component. All bodies in the design will show when the save as mesh dialog opens but only the visible ones in the from the browser will actually export. Below you can see the second component has been moved and if you just right click the second component and export it will use its own origin not the document origin.

Here's the export in Rhino showing the same positions as Fusion.

I slice with External slicer.

Previously I have exported multiple STL files from inventor and fusion 360 and they assembled properly in the external slicer(from stratasys).

But here there seems to be an issue. My guess is since I am importing inventor files to fusion 360 and editing them. During exporting individual stl files of the bodies, the coordinates are messed up.
Is there a way to fix their positions?

Hi,

I create one file with several objects and have the option in Prusa Slicer to place them in the same arrangement or as individual objects.
