hello community,

i want to export a model of a boat, it has around 8000 bodies! I need a 3ds or fbx or obj, something to import in cinema4d. my experience is almost 0 with fusion 360 so i'm lost in all the functions. what's the best way to export this baby, i tried the show details in web, then export as fbx, and then it says it will send you an email. but i have yet to recieve te email.

here is a link to the web export thingy https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/export-multiple-bodies-as-one-obj/td-p/712...

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Not too sure why you haven't received the email from A360 - it must be having trouble saving the file as an OBJ. Just to check - have you tried using the same workflow for FBX? Also, does the file have to be OBJ/FBX or can it be an STL file? If it can be an STL file - then you can do this within Fusion 360 by right-click the top-level component and selecting Save as STL. Also, within Fusion 360, can you go to the file menu (with the file open) and select Share-Share Public Link (turn download on) and share this file with me so I can take a peek? Let me know if so and I can show you more in depth how to do so.

Thanks,

All 3D animation software and plugins that content designers use will not accept .STL files. This is the 4th post I've seen with people asking for .OBJ and be directed to use .STL. Can we establish, that if we're asking for .OBJ it's for a reason? Stop suggesting STL when we need OBJ 😞

...and silence.

I think getting upset toward someone who responds is a sure-fire way to NOT get a response from anyone. Including me.
