Exporting DXF scaling issue

When I export a drawing as DXF it only works if I use scale 1:1.

If I use a different scale it get wrong resized in autocad and other software.

80mm becomes 160, if drawn at 1:2 it becomes 40

Hi @steven1337 ,

In the AutoCAD DWG, the views and entities are part of Paper-Space and in the case of Simplified DWG/DXF the entities are part of Model Space.

In Fusion, if your drawing view is scaled (not 1:1), the exported view will also be scaled. I believe that this may be the issue that you are facing.

Exporting an "AutoCAD DWG" export will give your supplier a DWG file that is scaled, but that has the correct dimension annotation scale. This means that they can add additional dimensions to the drawing in AutoCAD. These AutoCAD dimensions will match the original Fusion 360 dimensions.

If you require a DXF (or simplified DWG) file at a scale of 1:1, the suggestion is to create your drawing at a scale of 1:1 before exporting it. Alternatively, you could scale the DXF up (or down) in AutoCAD.

Thanks,

So this is normal behavior or will this change in the future?

I need a DXF, just tried this again and I can't use a DWG in my CAM software for my wire EDM. Tried converting the DWG in a DXF works fine on autocad but doesn't show a single line in my cam software. So this does not work.

This is how I'm doing it currently but was hoping for a solution as my drawings are somethimes a bit weird because I only use scale 1:1. Would like to use a3-a4 paper designs but somthimes my parts are way to big or way to small.

Kind regards, Steven

Hi @steven1337 ,

Thanks for the feedback.

Note that if your drawing view is bigger than the page, that this is not a problem, the geometry will export perfectly to DXF.

Hi, thanks for posting. If you need the dxf for CNC work, have you ever tried exporting sketches as dxf? They export at 1:1 using the active design units. Many CAM users use this workflow.
