Every time I open Fusion 360 I get a not responding message on the splash screen

I have tried everything I could think of/find. Reinstalling, updating drivers and Windows, and doing a clean install of Fusion.

Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-8400

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 5600XT

RAM: 16GB@3000Mhz

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3

Are there any other things I could try in order to get Fusion to work again? Are there any logs I can post here to help with troubleshooting?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you please follow the instructions in this article here for "Fusion 360 freezes and says "Not Responding" shortly after it is opened".

I have already tried everything stated on that page, unfortunately, none of it seems to make a difference.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you go to the Help menu in Fusion 360, select Support and Diagnostics, collect your Diagnostic Log Files and post them here? It should give us a better understanding of what is happening.

If you are unable to select Support and Diagnostics from Fusion 360, you can still manually collect the log files in Explorer.

Sorry it took me a while to reply, here are the logs.

The application logs came from the logs folder and not from the alphanumeric folder

@Anonymous ,

The log file says you are on a older build 2.0.9512(14 Dec 2020).
Please take the latest Fusion 360 update (2.0.9640) and restart.

I have just done another clean uninstall and let the installer from Autodesk run, same behavior. Here are the logs.

For some reason after the clean uninstall Fusion didn't create the web services folder, so no logs from there

Hi @Anonymous ,

Can you please send us the log file from below folder location For e.g., C:\Users\<WinLoginID>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<12CharAlphaNumeric>

I attached the log file from C:\Users\<WinLoginID>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\logs, since the alphanumeric folder just doesn't exist for me (I assume it is because I can't log in).

I also attached the GraphicsCardInfo.xml file in case it is useful

I just thought to try Running Fusion 360 from the command line instead of using the shortcut, and while this doesn't do anything different to running it normally, I can see that it prints a few lines into the console. Here they are:

"C:/Users/yonat/AppData/Local/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/a95f8c5ccd1169cf841c8219266ac15fc1536633/plugins"
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

DevTools listening on ws://127.0.0.1:9766/devtools/browser/144251a4-ea85-476d-8acd-9a002ce01a51
qt.qpa.fonts: Unable to open default EUDC font: "C:\\WINDOWS\\FONTS\\EUDC.TTE"

Could this be the cause of all my trouble?

I'm not quite convinced - generally when we see startup delays, it is because of graphics or connectivity issues. You have ruled out drivers and updates, so we may want to consider your antivirus, firewall, proxy/VPN, etc.

You might also check your update history and see if you can correlate the starting date of the issues with any system or driver updates prior to your troubleshooting attempts.

I've tried disabling my antivirus and firewall, doesn't seem to matter. I don't use a VPN or a proxy.

There was a long period where I didn't use Fusion on this PC, so I'm not sure when it actually started.

Is there any way to get it to output more verbose logs to assist with debugging it?

If Fusion is freezing on startup, that generally impacts its logging ability - we are lucky in this case that your logs seem to stop immediately after the onscreen graphics initialize DirectX 11 - this gives us something to work with.

Let's try forcing Fusion 360 to use DirectX 9, or OpenGL graphics APIs. Normally you can do this within the Fusion preferences under General should you wish to investigate once we get you back up and running, but we will use environment variables this time:

  1. Right-click on My Computer/This PC on the Desktop or in the Start Menu and select “Properties”
  2. In the left column of the System window that appears, select “Advanced System Settings”
  3. Within the System Properties window that appears, click “Environment Variables” in the bottom right
  4. Within Environment Variables, click “New…” under the System Variables section
  5. For Variable Name, enter NEUTRON_GRAPHICS_API
  6. For Variable Value, enter DX9 for DirectX 9, or GLCORE for OpenGL
  7. Click OK to save the new variable
  8. Launch Fusion 360

While you are there, you could also create NEUTRON_LOG_GRAPHICS for a value of 1 to try and get some extra logging information.

Changing to OpenGL gives the same results as before, but using DX9 instead will make the splash screen show up for around 3 seconds and the disappear. I also enabled NEUTRON_LOG_GRAPHICS, so here are all of the new logs (WebServices folder still doesn't exist)

Would you be able to attach a DxDiag report? This will give me a more detailed overview of your device configuration.

To confirm, when you say you did a clean installation: did you uninstall Fusion 360, run the Clean Uninstaller, then reinstall Fusion?

There's the DxDiag report. I tried using the clean uninstaller, but it didn't seem to do anything, so I did a manual clean uninstall as described here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

I then installed Fusion normally as I would on any PC
