Error Thrown by OSS when copying file

Error Thrown by OSS when copying file

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have a file and when I try to copy it within the Data Panel, using the right click drop down menu I get a 'Error Thrown By OSS' on one particular file, the others are fine. It has been copied from the others that work, so I don't know why this one is a problem. I am not using branching as far as I am aware. Any ideas?

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are receiving an "Error thrown by OSS" message while trying to copy a file in the Fusion 360 Data Panel.

Are you seeing the same behavior as shown in this forum thread

If so, opening the file and then using the Save Copy As command, as shown in the thread linked above, should allow you to copy the file. This issue has also been resolved by restarting the computer and Fusion 360 before - please try restarting your system to see if this behavior continues.

If a restart does not resolve this problem, please share the design that is resulting in this error with me, either on this forum thread or as a public link in a private message. It will also help us look further into this behavior if you could gather your diagnostic log files (as shown in the screencast below) and send them over to me!

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions - I am happy to continue troubleshooting.

Thanks Paul! The solution of a restart solved the problem and now all files are able to be copied, but I have noted your other solution in case that doesn't work in the future.

I have to say it was great to receive support so quickly--that really makes me happy to be using Fusion360. Its a great product, I was able to go from zero CAD/CAM experience (apart from a few hours on Sketchup) to making a client presentation of multiple iterations of a product design and win the job within a week. There were some late nights, but the learning tutorials and the logic and ease of F360 is superb. Will be recommending to anyone who will listen.

Opening and saving does work after a system reset and restart but what is the root problem? It is quite a hassle to open and save as for each part. I have been trying to build a "clean" project and there are many parts. If I have to open and save as each one it will be a real long process. I have had to do it for two out of three parts and others have simply not copied with no messages or indication.
