Error: Split1 Compute Failed - No intersection between target(s) and split tool

Hi all, 

 

I am trying to make a mold where I have to split the mold using surfaces that are created from projecting edges from the body that is to be molded. I am creating these surfaces, which are obviously going into the mold body, but I keep getting the error that there is no intersection between the target (body) and split tool (created surfaces). I have replicated a similar issue in the attached file. 

I have read similar issues in other threads, but they seem to all have some kind of workaround, whereas for me this is something that should work "straight forward"? 

 

All help is appreciated!

You are missing a surface plane between the two planes on each side of the mold.  Depending on where you want to split the mold, you have to generate a surface to joint them.  Here is your file with one side of the modeled part used to create the surface.

Thank you for your quick solution to that problem! Here is another one with more surfaces, where I tried applying what you suggested. There seems to be another problem at hand here, but it is the same error message still. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Accepted solution

The solution to this one is to get all the surfaces stitched together with all the "normal direction" facing the same way.  The best way, I know, to do this is to Un-stitch it and Stitch it back together twice.  Model is attached.

Worked like a charm, thank you very much for your help! 

I did try to "manually" reverse the normals before stitching, so it is surprising for me that unstitching/stitching again is the way to go. Is there a logic behind it? And is there any analysis tools that can be used to aid in the troubleshooting process?
