Element deletion / material not performing as anticipated

Hi all, new to Fusion 360, running a simulation involving an acrylic sheet and a bullet. I'm trying to complete a control simulation to compare with other results, because I know in this simulation the acrylic target should fail and the projectile punch straight through. Fusion is not showing this and suggests the material would deform and bounce the bullet away (the bullet is also suffering considerably less deformation than I'd expect). Materials imported from Solidworks with the models, deletion criteria set to negative volume. Why am I getting these results? All feedback appreciated.

Hi @n0909644,

Could you attach the model to take a closer look?

Thanks!

Hi @n0909644

Maybe the element volume never goes negative and therefore there is no reason for them to be deleted from the simulation.

When something breaks, it is usually because the stress (or strain in the case of Event Simulation) exceeds the allowable limit. I suggest you determine what strain causes failure in the acrylic and enter an element deletion based on that strain value.
