What is the simplest way to get my high school students access to Fusion 360? I have used Fusion with them for the past couple years but this school year has been a nightmare getting the students access. The student ID method works, however HS students in my district don't get a student id or if they do get one they don't keep them.  Getting transcripts for each students isnt a very realistic method and just passes the issue onto someone else who has no clue what Fusion 360 even is. So that leaves the letter. My question about that letter is how detailed does it need to be? Can I write one letter and have every student submit the same letter? Is it possible to sign up as a school district since they have to give the school district information? Not all students are computer savvy and find the registration difficult. I thought I would ask and at least let someone aware that this was not an issue in the past but it is now making Fusion difficult for us right now. Many of the students trials have subscribed so they are read only now. When we click on the educational use link that appears nothing happens. Hope to hear from someone that can help us out.

Hi @kwertmanX3F6N-

Sorry to hear that acquiring Fusion 360 has been a frustrating experience for you and your students.

For the letter, it should be on school letterhead and can be the same for each student (student name should be unique to each letter).

You can download a student letter template here. Please make sure each student's name and school name in their  Autodesk education profile match the details provided on the letter.

Students can then upload the letter as part of the eligibility confirmation process via the Get Products page.

You can find additional details in this Autodesk Education Plan FAQ document (question #23 links to the letter template, too).

We're also exploring how to make this process better in the future since we know it's been a challenge for a number of educators and students.

In the meantime, I hope this helps.

Regards,

Gabe

So I thought since almost exactly a month has gone by I thought I would give an update on how I made out getting a student access to Fusion 360. I created a letter and the student went through the registration process. We attached the letter and we were given a message that he would receive an email from Autodesk or Fusion to allow him to use his educational license. The student still has not gotten an email. As his teacher I cant do this for him. So this system does not work for us. Either the district email boots it out or its not being sent out to them. We use Inventor as a CAD/CAM package and have been using that because the license can be taken care of by my school district IT department. I want to continue using Fusion 360 but something has got to improve here. A student really cant individually take care of the software license. It sounds like a very simple thing but they really have no clue what to do when they get to that registration screen. This may work for a college student but not a 14 year old freshman in high school.

Hi @kwertmanX3F6N,

Thanks for the follow-up and sorry to hear this has proven to be such a frustrating process.

What does your student see on the Get Products page after logging in? There should be a banner message at the top that informs eligibility status.

Or are you saying the student never received an email to activate the Autodesk account? That is a required step.

If you'd like to direct message me with the student's email, I can take a look in our systems to see what's going on.

Thanks,

Gabe

That’s the one specific example I used. I’m working right now on getting another student in. We are cnc machining parts and I like using both Fusion and Inventor so kids are experiencing both programs.

Hi @kwertmanX3F6N,

Thanks. I checked our records and it looks like this student was successfully verified. Can you have the student check the Get Products page and click "Get product" -> ACCESS (or DOWNLOAD) for Fusion 360 and Inventor?

I'd also recommend editing your post to remove the student's email address.
