Education / Lab install Keep updated

Hi

We have a lab with Fusion 360 installed.  Students login with their own accounts and are non-admin users.  Right now I'm using the 'Fusion 360 Admin Install.exe'  scripted to run every time I am told by the instructors that there has been an updated and students can no longer open files created on their home versions.

Is there a better way to manage updates in this environment?  Can I switch to the web install and have the students run updates on their own as NON-admins?

Thanks

Hi @thomaswhilbert

Thanks for posting! I've escalated your questions to the Installation team (case # 14668059), as they'll be the best resource for this question. You should be hearing from them shortly either here or via the email address associated with your forum handle.

They can confirm, but I believe Fusion requires an admin account for installation and updates.

No, I haven't heard of any changes.  It seems that Autodesk will need to change the packaging format of this application in order to facilitate an easier lab use.

Thanks

I do updates manually and I get an email from Autodesk when an update is coming and what date.

I do upload a new admin install each time - I used an old install and did not get latest update.

There are ways to automate it but we had no success.

Hi,

I just read your response to another post and it seems like you have resolved the Fusion update issue.  I recently posted on this forum another issue.  Our IT Dept suggest they are rolling out the 'published' updates as soon as they receive them.  The problem seems to be that these updates are out of synch with the updates that students receive and install on their own home PCs.

I have asked the question as to whether we can update a LAB install so that it coincides with the updates our students install at home and await an answer.

I wonder if there is a better way to install Fusion over a network (we have about 150 users) and keep it updated remotely?

We are a secondary school in Kent and I have this issue at the two school I work at.  A neat and simple solution that the respective IT support teams could administer on a weekly basis would be really helpful.

Our last Autodesk 'published' update (note the word published) installed by our IT support seems very old compared to what is now available. i.e. we are currently running on : (2.0.88.16) whereas the November update is V.2.0.9313!

Could anyone confirm the latest 'published' update version and does it tally with the above?

I wonder if our IT support think they are rolling out the latest update but something is not happening...

Regards,

Ant

Our IT was able to get our student computer updates automated.   The new teacher computers are not in that update group , So have to manually update - NBD as I have admin access.

I was getting an email that an update is coming , but lately I have not got those e-mails.  I can tell when when my home computer gets the green strip update - I know its time to update my teacher computer.

I have another fellow school that gets that update notice and IT opens the computers up to manually update with latest lab install.    But 150 computers need it automated.

I will contact my autodesk education rep as he gave us all a document to gibe to IT dept to automate
jason.roth@autodesk.com - he can help
