edge of extruded body is visible through other bodies

Hello,

I am looking at my model in the "View Cube-Home" position.   I have the Visual Style set to "Shaded with visible edges only".  I use macOS 10.15 and Fusion 2.06516.

As shown in the attachment 'body edges visible.png', the edges of an extruded body, named "WALLS", are visible through another body named "GARAGE ROOF"..  GARAGE ROOF was created from projections of the gable end of WALLS so GARAGE ROOF is "sitting" on top of WALLS.  Neither GARAGE ROOF of WALLS extend into each other.

As I zoom in, the visible edges disappear so I guess that is OK, but I don't understand why they show up at all.  It's not just bodies, as components show up also, I just did't include a screenshot.

As shown in the attachment 'bodies turned off.png' when I hide WALLS the edges of WALLS in question disappear.

Can anyone explain this behavior?

It would be best if you could attach a f3d file for someone to look at, as a guess, are the walls at the same height as the top of  the roof? Is the opacity of the roof at 100 percent?

most likely, what you are seeing is that the top of the "walls" are coincident with the top of the roof, and you are seeing the graphics from those "z-fighting".  That's why the display looks like dashed lines.  Share the model to be certain

Easiest way to solve this is to extrude the walls upward to a face, that face being the underside of the roof, it has the added benefit of you being able to 'raise the roof' and the walls will follow, allowing for easier re-dimension.

If the walls are the primary dimension, you can add the roof afterwards so they are not touching and extrude to the underside roof face to close any gaps.

2 methods, both will prevent the wall being visible through the roof.

Mike.

Please consider marking topics as solved after a solution has been established, this will prevent others from thinking the issue is still unresolved.

Here is the model I think: https://a360.co/2PkhCI2  I've never shared a model here before so if this may not be the way to it.

As I mentioned, I sketched and extruded the walls first. Previously, I said I projected the edge of the garage roof from the gable end of the walls, but now see I actually projected the edge of the garage roof from the component '5D_garage_truss' .  This doesn't make any difference to the issue I was asking for help with.  For example, one of the  unwanted edges appearing through the garage roof seems to be from the component '5D_garage_truss'.

To recap: when viewing the model from 'View Cube-Home' there are unwanted edges appearing throughout the model.  As I zoom in these edges will disappear but I don't understand why they are there at all.

@jeff_strater I've seen this before also in other CAD systems and it is very easy to re-create if you have objects that are very thin in relation to their overall size. That does not necessarily mean it is a bug, though!

Thanks to everyone who supplied an answer.  I don't like the behavior but at least I understand what is happening.

I am facing a similar issue. Have you figured out a way around it yet?

The edge was seen through thin surfaces so I had to end up setting the thickness of the thin surface to something thick enough so the edges would not ‘bleed through’.
Not ideal & I was told this was a known issue without a solution.

I'm having this exact issue. I'm designing a camper trailer with 1/8" wall panels attached to square tubing and I can see the square tubing behind the panels when zoomed out. When I zoom in, the lines disappear. Very annoying.
