Design cannot be saved (Design is located in another team:)

Hello Autodesk Team,

I am the sysadmin for a school district that utilizes Fusion 360 in our HS lab environments. Over this school year we have been battling quite a few issues with the fusion360 application. Trying to get support from Autodesk has been challenging, I'm hoping this post can get some eyes on the issues we are experiencing.

#Issue#

Students receive the following error when trying to save a project:

"Cannot be Saved" 'FileName' Cross-Team Design (Design is located in another team: 'TeamName')"

#What we have done to resolve the issue#

Verified all URLs provided by Autodesk aren't being blocked by firewall / filter

Cleared Fusion360 Cache (Temporarly resolves the issue for a few days)

SaveFile As (Resolves the issue however not a good resolution when students have to start managing multiple files due to so many saves)

#Summary#

Overall the issue isn't consistant and seems to come and go. While we have found temporary fixes stated above it isn't a good resolution. Many hours of student lab time is lost trying to work around this issue. Any help identifying a long term solution would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for posting this. There is a knowledge article that matches your description.

Please let me know if that solves the issue for you.

Thanks,

Hello Phil,

Thanks for sending this information over. We were on winter break so I wanted to give the lab a week of testing this as a fix before replying.

Clearing the local cache resolves the issue for a day or two, however the issue just comes back.

Thanks for responding. That's a good clue.

Does it have anything to do with these designs being deleted/archived/moved after that period of time you mention?

I'm referring to this bit from the article:

Referenced design has been archived

This warning may show if a referenced file has been archived.

Archive, delete or move isn't recommended to students throughout the school year since they are working on the same project.

I am happy to provide a screen recording, logs or anything else you could find useful to help narrow down this issue.

Please describe the relationships here between the students and the location where they are saving their designs.

  • Is it a hub that the student owns, or one that the teacher owns?
  • Have you checked all the permissions and roles for the students vis a vis the place they are saving designs?
  • Does it happen off the school network, or on it, or both? (I'm presuming the students are allowed to work off campus on their homework).
