Derived Parameters Not Functioning as Before

In the past, I have created a component and added Favorite Parameters and saved to the Cloud database.  I then Derive the component into a saved assembly,  making sure the Favorite Parameters check box is active.  I then will expand the derived parameters and select the one I want to use with the component and make it a favorite.  At this point I select the Derive icon in the timeline and Break Link.

In the past, at least as I remember it, the parameter I selected from the Derived Parameter list and made a favorite is available to use to control the associated component.  Please refer to the Screencast for the process.

Has this changed?  Is there a problem with the process?  I am getting too old to remember?

yes, that does look like a bug.  Not sure if it is a regression or not (as I have personally never tried this), but it's possible.  We'll investigate.  Thanks for reporting it.

Thanks Jeff for taking a look at my issue and concerning it.  I will close this  Forum post and hopefully see it has been address in the future.  By the way, I tried it using the Fusion 360 Insider Edition this morning and sadly it did the same thing.

I believe this behavior is as-designed.  Since the derived Bodies are converted to Base Bodies after Break Link, the bodies are no longer driven by the derived parameters.  We keep the derived parameters in tact so if they are used in any other downstream features, they can continue to be used and changed accordingly.  Maybe what you remember is using those parameters in other features and having them update that geometry when changed?

Perhaps the breaklink of an inserted referenced to a model is what is remembered? That breaklink does copy the timeline of the xref into the parent. That is easier to do since it is the entire timeline. The derive breaklink copy of features is more challenging since derive is much more targeted.

Insert XREF does not provide parameters in the parent, so I might be guessing wrong, but breaklink of XREF would introduce the child's parameters which still drive the copied timeline features.

The feature expected by @jhackney1972 is also something I was expecting. "Deriving the component" only helps if the derivation can be done as features at the end of the timeline.  Parameter changes aren't. Overriding user favorite parameters of a derived component would fit the bill.

I read one of your previous posts that you are working on configurations that solve that. Can't wait!
