Default plane orientation is different to most online tutorial videos

Hi

I am new to Fusion 360 and have noticed that the default planes orientation in my Fusion 360 seems to be different to most online tutorial videos. Have I got a setting wrong? When extruding on the Y Plane it always extrudes away from me, whereas all the online videos show it extruding forwards (towards me).

Can someone help please?

Attached is an screen grab of my startup planes.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

here you can see what happens if you choose Front or Back of the same plane.

Hi @Anonymous,

The default modeling orientation used to be Y-up, which was changed to Z-up for new users, sometime back in 2019.
Hence, it is expected to encounter such difference.

If you change your Default modeling orientation to Y-up (Preferences> General> Default modeling orientation), I guess you'll see behaviour as those videos, where the user might have Y-up as default.
