Data panel missing promote and open buttons

The promote and open icons are missing in the Data section, at least for previous versions.  The promote and open functions are working as long as you know to place the curser on the right side of a file info field and click around a bit until you get a response.  This problem with UI was noticed  one to three weeks ago.  It has not been a problem in months past.

Hi @redline126,

Thanks for posting!

I'm sorry to hear about this issue! Unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the behavior here on my machine. My gut tells me this may just be a graphics issue. Would you mind trying to update your graphics card drivers to see if that makes those icons appear within the data panel? When updating your graphics card drivers, I would strongly suggest that you do not use the automatic utility provided by Windows, just because I have seen that utility tell me that my drivers were up to date when I knew for a fact that they were not. Instead you should update the drivers via the manufacturer's website.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!

Cheers,

Hey Mike!

Thanks for the FTL speed answer.  🙂  On a hunch, before updating my graphics drivers, I exited F360 and restarted.  The two missing icons reappeared.  I usually leave F360 running, and allow the PC to sleep.  I.e., I rarely restart F360.....   Don't know if this still points to a little bug, but just wanted you to know.  If the problem returns, I'll save logs, restart and see if it goes away again.  If not I'll check the graphics drivers and regardless let you know what's happening.

THANKS!

Hi @redline126,

Any time - I am always happy to assist!

I'm not 100% certain what your reason for leaving Fusion running is, but I have seen other similar kinds of graphical glitches pop up when Fusion is left running for a long time. For that reason, I would suggest that whenever you aren't using Fusion, you just kill the application to free up those resources for the rest of your machine.

Regardless, I'm glad to hear that you are back up and running after a Fusion/system restart! Feel free to create post if you have any other issues or concerns!

Cheers,

Hi, absolute noob here, so please be patient 😉

I just launched Fusion 360 on my Mac running Yosemite. I probably downloaded it about a year ago, but only now got the time to start playing with it.

I'm also missing the promote and open buttons of the sample project (I'm following Matt Perez's tutorial series).

I quit F360 and repaired permissions on my machine. The buttons didn't show up after that.

Can't open older versions in any way.

Please advice.

Thanks!

I have the same issue on my Mac (MacOS Mojave 10.14.4, Fusion 360 version 2.0.5519). For each version, the icons for Promote and Open are not displayed. The mouseover still works, which provides a workaround as long as you know where the icons are supposed to be.

And yes restarting Fusion helps.  I wanted to post this so that it is clear that this is not a Windows-only problem or linked to a specific graphics card.

The problem still exists. At least there was a picture on the help web site that hinted where to hover the mouse, I really wouldn't have guessed otherwise.

Brand-new iMac. Unlikely to be out-of-date graphics drivers.

I'm in v2.0.9930 and i also don't have the promote button. Just like in the screenshot from @M_Bortkiewicz, i only see the open button. Only that button has a hover hint, so it doesn't seem to be an invisible icon issue.

Edit: just found out that there is a "Save As Latest" option in the menu that seems to do the equivalent of promoting an old version.

The Promote button is no more. The new work flow is to open the old design and "Save As Latest"
