Is there a way to create a custom environment for the design workspace? Rather than having to choose from the provided 5 backgrounds (dark sky, grey room, photo booth, tranquility blue, and infinity pool)?

Well, Fusion 360 developers should offer this option. And an option to apply component colors (without cycling them randomly) from standarized palettes from an assembly and without creating constantly new versions for every color change.
