Hello support community!

I am relatively new in fusion 360 sheet metal. I did all necessary searches in supports and expert tutorials in youtube, but couldn't find any proper way of converting attached/uploaded example solid body into a sheet metal body.

I know it is not possible to convert that solid body into exact sheet metal copy (as the solid body doesn't obey all sheet metal rules), but I would be happy to know about any workaround options to create any similar foldable/unfoldable sheet metal body.

Thank you in advance for all!

If you would like to fold your existing model, using the sheet metal environment, take a look at this blog article and video.  I folded you body using this method and it is attached.  If you would like to change the position of the bend and the radius, you can do them with the indicated timeline sketch and feature.  You will find all the instructions in the blog article and video.

I know this is not exactly what you asked for but using this method you can preserve all the features of your body which are not easily possible in a pure sheet metal body.

Hi @b.b.murzabaev ,

I'm learning Sheet metal. Pardon me if my answer wont help you out.

The attached body is not allowing to unfold flat due to the fillet corners.

I tried to extrude cut the corners to make the body unfold.

Dear Sujay,

Thank you very much for your effort in helping me! I know the solid body as it is cannot be converted into sheet metal due to those curved corners (screenshot is attached) that you mentioned. Hence I am asking for a help of experienced users/experts. Based on Mr. Brad Tallis' tutorial (https://youtu.be/oGwn6SsyPwA) on the similar issues, I managed to make some progress before (screenshot is attached), so my solid body falls into single flat sheet metal, but those curved corners approximated by straight lines (which I flanged from) interfere with other parts of the assembly.

Hence I am looking for any better solution to the issue.

Thanks Sujay again for your effort and suggestion!

Dear John,

Thank you very much for the suggestion and the video you've referred to. I previouly saw that post and the youtube video. It was a new discovery for me to bend like that way, really! I believe your tutorial will help many many people too. I did try to work out around my issue in that way previously but as you might predict, I couldn't resolve the issue.

Again, I really much appreciated your effort and willingness/contributions to help beginners like me.

Thank you!
