You can easily prevent what is happening when you create a new sketch on a remove surface from the origin but you will then have to possibly add a new step to begin your sketch.  The video will explain.

hey there, i did exactly as you did. unchecked auto look at from design and applied it,  tried to start on the surface and then clicked to look at as you did but it again went to origin. i wonder how same settings behave differend on my pc.

however with the help of your idea, i slightly changed order. what i did is first selected surface and then clicked look at and that brought my focus to surface, only after that i clicked create sketch and since my focus was already there it stayed as exactly where i wanted it to be. thanks for shining a light to the solution, you are golden.

but for anyone, this all going to origin thing wasnt there before and it had been automatically going focus to the selected surface without changing any settings. solution of Jhacjney1972 works for the time being but if anyone knows to fix it like it's original state would  be best.

@theoballew

Set the view how you want it.

Right click on the View Cube and set new Home Position.

If you can’t figure it out-

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

So this worked for me as well.

But as he said it was not doing this before.

Hey, AutoDesk Developers!!!

If it's not broke then don't fix it!!!

@jhackney1972 Such a relief! Thank you very much. I was SO annoying when it did that. Now all is back to "normal"

This adds an extra step to fix a problem which should not be happening in the first place.  Fusion should just create a view normal to the selected surface without translating to the home position.  The home position should be left totally out of the picture, just rotate the current view until the surface is normal.  Apparently this is how it used to work until some noob developer "fixed" it.
