Title might sound click-bait-like, but it's true. Not sure what happened here, but I've had to reboot three times now to restore my computer after Fusion 360 went completely haywire. Here is the repeatable sequence of events:

  1. Run Fusion. Create model. Etc.
  2. Leave in background.
  3. Return to Fusion after some time.
  4. Fusion reports "Running in disconnected mode" (or whatever it calls it when it seems to lose contact with the cloud).
  5. Click OK.
  6. Fusion starts some background process that opens a command prompt.
  7. Command prompt promptly goes away after a few milliseconds.
  8. Goto 6.

This ONLY stops after a reboot. Closing Fusion does nothing. Keeps flashing the command prompts. Renders the PC entirely unusable until you reboot.

Potentially relevant info:

  • Window 11 Pro 22H2
  • Fusion 2.0.12888
  • Education License
  • Fusion disconnect issue *might* be happening when I connect and disconnect from my work's VPN.

Quick update: Just happened again. NOT due to VPN connection. Seems maybe to be due to the crash reporter. Was eventually able to get the crazed open/close command prompt to stop by just sending a 0 out of 10 for the "would I recommend to a friend" response (couldn't fill in any text as the window lost focus every few milliseconds). After sending the crash report it seems that the flashing command prompts ceased after maybe 30 seconds. Pretty nasty bug when your crash reporter crashes incessantly.
