Create drawing -> destination = existing drawing

What are the prerequisite conditions to have an existing drawing as the destination to insert a new drawing into?

I have a large drawing that I want to insert a drawing instance of different model into without having to add the model into the base model of the existing drawing (because it will take me all day to suppress it in every view and the drawing environment is already chugging to a halt every time I toggle a checkbox and crashing 10 times a day with the current model).

Can I only choose an existing drawing as the destination if that existing drawing is of the same model as the one I want to insert? I could have sworn I've inserted different models into existing drawings before, but I've got hundreds of them now so don't know which one(s) it would have been and a couple of simple tests didn't seem to affirm that memory)

Thanks in advance.

Hi @stumcconnel

We currently only support the creation of drawings from one model source. It is not possible to insert a component from another model into a drawing.

"I could have sworn I've inserted different models into existing drawings before" - unfortunately not, It has always worked this way.
