Correct quantity of each item in Parts List for geodesic dome components

Hi guys,

 

I am constructing part of a V4 geodesic dome from wood and I have designed the dome in Fusion 360.

 

The dome is made up of 4 slightly differently dimensioned wooden pieces that I will ultimately cut using some templates that I will make especially for the project.  The pieces all fit together according to specific calculations and there are a total of approximately 216 individual pieces. I have constructed the model using a combination of Mirror and Circular Pattern as well as individual component modeling.

In order to get a Parts List, I create a Drawing with the Model but the problem is that each of the 216 pieces has a quantity of "1" instead of having 4 Parts each with a quantity of approximately 54.

How do I:

1. Extract how many unique, individual pieces are in the model.

2. Get exact dimensions and cut angles for each of the 4 parts.

Hi,

Place identical parts in a folder (component) and select the options All / First Level for the parts list in the drawing as required.

The problem is I don't know which parts are identical and would have to go through the model and manually select each part.

Thank you. From the list of components in the model, seems like the name of each component is different than other. This is the reason why Fusion is identifying each of them as a separate part. To identify them as same parts the name of the components should be same. Here's a sample

Coming to the other question, I think we will need to understand how the components were created so that we can suggest a better solution. Usually if pattern or copy/paste is used Fusion creates copies of the component with same name. This produces the desired results (I used pattern in above example).

Thanks for taking a look at it.

I think what I'm gonna do is to re-create the model again and see if I can somehow make it using the pattern/copy commands so that I have instances of the same components.

I'll get back to you and let you know how it goes.
