Copy And Pasting

I am trying to copy some simple sketch elements in a drawing to reuse as a foundation for design variations in a new drawing w/o having to redraw them every time.  the copy/move command just seems to activate move, no copy function.  Win10 with all the latest updates. FAQ's don't seem to quite get me where I want to be.  thanks for the help, new user...  donald k wilson

You should be able to copy sketch geometry between designs. Edit the sketch in the source design and select the geometry you want, right click and select copy from the menu. In the destination design create or activate a sketch and right click and select Paste.

Or as you mentioned drawing, are you talking about 2d drawings in the drawing work space?

Hi @Anonymous,

Going off of what @HughesTooling said - below is a screencast I made a while back showing this process in case you want a video too. I believe you are using the Move command from the Modify menu to try to accomplish what you want, whereas you should try using Copy/Paste by right clicking or using keyboard shortcuts CTRL+C and CTRL+V.

what about copying and pasting elements in the same sketch.  For instance I imported a dirty .dxf that Im cleaning up.  I draw a three point circle over a series of arcs that make the same circle and then copy the one I want to keep and then delete everything in the space and I want to paste the one that I want to keep in the same postion?  How do I do that?
