Converting SLT to editable Fusion File

I have a SLT file that I wish to import to fusion and edit.

I have followed (or tried to) many tutorials and failed miserably, so please help!

The attached STL file is that of a netball with the actual ball missing, its like the engraved part of the ball only.

I wish to add a sphere to the centre and enlarge the sphere to it intersects the stl file and so creates the ball with the stl image engraved / sunken just below the surface of the ball / sphere that I add.

I can insert the stl via mesh. but dont appear to be able to convert it and when I draw the sphere I can set its size correctly, but can not achieve the engraved line effect.

The stl is attached.

Can you help please? - Spent hours so far.

Hi @bs, I just had a post similar to this. This maybe one of those occasions that working with meshes is better than converting. I created a screencast on what I did check it out. Sorry about the background noise I forgot to remove the audio before uploading. Edit: Making the sphere slightly smaller will resolve the small artifacts.

STL file converted and moved it to the Origin for you to use.  Model attached.

Thank you for the video.

I am almost completely certain i am following your video, but I don't the same result??

I am importing the original mesh and i move it to the origin.

I create a sphere of 61mm diameter which creates a new body. (61 is 1 mm larger than the mesh)

I create tesselate

I then combine.

I select the two meshes

I select cut option

I get an error - yellow triangle against the original mesh that says it does not have a positive volume and everyting disappears.

Can you provide further assistance?

Hello

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

However, I am no further on :(.

I have opened your converted file and then I draw a sphere from the origin to just a bit bigger size than the "mesh", but no matter what option I choose, cut, intersect etc, I get nothing or a solid ball??

Please could you advise further?

Thanks

Take a look at the Screencast.  You said you were making the Sphere a little larger than your converted mesh body, this is probably the problem.  If you want less cut in the sphere, this can be done also, I just did it with sightly less than the existing size.  Model is attached.
