Converted Creo Elements/Direct 2D .mi files ->.dxf/.dwg, not opening with full editable data in Fusion 360

Hello,

Unsure if this is the right board for this question, but here goes.

I have an entire 3D/2D project in Creo 3.0 Elements/Direct. That means that my native files are all .pkg for 3D and .mi for 2D. I am trying to migrate away from using Creo to another CAD program. I would like that CAD program to be an Autodesk program - specifically Fusion 360.

I downloaded the trial Fusion 360 software to test out the file conversions and opening the files before purchase, but have come across an issue with the 2D file migration. My conversions are as follows:

3D: .pkg -> .stp (No issue)

2D: .mi -> .dxf & .dwg (Issues)

DXF - I imported this converted file from the Data Panel and the File->Open. From the File-> Open page, the outline of the 2D drawing is shown with the lines for my title box and revision box, but my dimensions, views, notes, text are not shown at all. I would understand if the views/dimensions were missing if the relation to the 3D part was lost - which is not ideal but is understandable. But there is no text anywhere, leading me to believe that the migration only brought in lines and nothing else. See attachment for DXF.

When I imported on the Web Data Panel, it was able to open but wasn't editable  - please see behavior/attachment for DWG.

DWG - I imported this converted file as well from the Data Panel (I couldn't open it from the File->Open, only saw the .dwf file). When opening from the Data Panel, it opened in a web browser with all the data but I couldn't edit the file (change/alter text for notes or revision box, change dimensions, etc). Is this a limitation of the Trial program? Will I be able to edit the text, dimensions, notes and so forth later? Or is this extent of the Fusion 360 ability? - See attached Image on DWG

If Fusion 360 can't open the .dxf or .dwg with full editable data, would Inventor be any different?

Any help with this would be amazing as I don't want to recreate 2D files (have over 100 files in this project).

Many thanks for any advice/solutions that can be provided!

Marie

I am not familiar with Creo at all.  When you talk about 2D .mi files, do those contain 2D sketch data, or is it a "drawing" (top/front/side views, title block, border, etc)?  What do you hope to do with this 2D data?  If your goal is to create a Fusion drawing, you will have to re-create those drawings manually, I'm afraid.  However, if you are hoping to create 2D sketches, you should use Insert DXF in the converted 3D design, although that will not connect those sketches to 3D geometry.

On the Fusion side, DXF and DWG files are imported into Fusion as 2D sketch data, not as a drawing.  Dimensions are not supported (they do not create Fusion sketch dimensions).  For Text, it depends what entities are written out in the DXF/DWG.  Are they lines/arcs, or some kind of a text primitive?  Lines and arcs should come in OK, but text will likely not.  Views and notes are not supported.
