Connexion Space Mouse accumulating drift until it behaves like "gimbal lock"

I'm wondering if anyone else who uses a Space Mouse is having a weird issues in the past week. I now have substantial drifting alignment between the world axis and the controller axis. After a several 3D moves with the controller, the knob will actually behave as if it has full gimbal lock. spinning the knob along its up axis will effectively "roll" the current view instead of what should be a "turntable move"
