Component joints stop working in file, sketch planes reorient themselves, everything is acting strange

I'm working on creating a new machining template for my 5 axis machine, and I'm trying to model the vises and attach parametrically generated stock and stuff to simplify modeling work for my many jobs.  I'm running into an issue I've never encountered before where creating rigid joints between components doesn't create an error, but the joined part reverts back to the original position immediately on creating the joint.  It also doesn't seem to let me create sketches without reorienting the sketch plane randomly.  I click a face to generate a new sketch and it turns sideways and screws up what I was doing. I just noticed another thing, if I change the parameter that controls the size of that box I was trying to join, it reverts back to it's previous position even after being aligned to the vise model. Does anyone know what's happening here?

Here is the part file: https://a360.co/3AUZnPY

And apparently it's not letting me embed the screencast in here.  This is the screencast: https://autode.sk/3TFuHL1

You can't do that, but why Fusion has not told you why is odd.

Your block is a body, in the Vice Assembly.  Joints work with Components

You are trying to use Joint on an Self Centering Vices:1 body, which is only going to work if that Joint is going to join to another component - that is outside Self Centering Vices:1, trying to join a body in the Assembly to something in it's own Sub Assembly,  probably bouncing back is the logical thing to do.

I think, not sure of this one, but new sketch with top level button active, it is likely the linked sub assembly face is also unselectible, so reverts to nearest document Origin Plane.  (Total guess - could be wrong here)

Might help....

While valid assemblies can be created with bodies (in a Bodies folder0 at the same structural level as other components, I would strongly advise against it.

Oh, you also can't delete this because it was part of an earlier version of the design. That earlier version is still present and cannot be deleted.

The only way to be able to delete that file is to export the entire assembly as a .f3z, delete it from the data panel, and then re-upload it from the .f3z. Then you can delete the file.

Deleting the original file from the data panel obviously deletes the entire version history.

Literally every time I try to embed a screencast it gives me this error: "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied." even though it looks fine on the preview window.  So frustrating, autodesk.

Here is a screencast of it still failing with different components trying to attach to that specific component and failing, but every other component in the model can join to any other one.
