Coincident tools would create illegal or non manufactureable bodies

Hi there

I'm trying to split a body and not understanding why Fusion won't let me.  Could someone kindly take a look at the file and see what I'm doing wrong? I've tried Split Body, Replace Face and having no luck.

Thanks

I used solid tools because the split body with surface gave me other errors.
Did the sketch in a different way, you only need one path for a sweep.
I hope I got the design intent correct?

Did you do the calculations for the line distances by hand? (It feels like they are not lining up)

Hi Kristian

Your way of drawing this is much simpler than what I did.

I was able to resolve this, and I'll post how I fixed it so others can learn from my mistake!

I used a sweep to get the "U"'s, then an Extrude to get the middle finger bit, followed by a Revolve to create the final end cap.

(Doh! Should have added that quarter circle and the sweep would have handled it, eliminating the need for all the faffing around I had to do.)

What I had not noticed was that the Extrude used two segments, instead of just the one I wanted. This created an overlaid surface.

I only found it when I was looking at the Stitch command and noticed the shape of the middle finger section was an S shape not a U shape.

I edited the Middle Finger Extrude to eliminate the spurious segment and everything worked!

Thanks so much for your help, I love your Youtube channel!

Cheers

Kevin
