Cloud tool library not syncing

Cloud tool library not syncing

I added some tools to my tool library on my Windows 10 laptop.  Later I opened Fusion 360 on my Mac (v10.13.6 High Sierra) and opened my cloud tool library there.  The tools I added on my Win 10 laptop did not show up on my Mac.

Then I did a test and added a tool while on my Mac to see if it would sync to my Win 10 laptop.  It did, but I also deleted the previous tools I added while in my Win 10 machine.  So Mac "syncs" and overwrites to Win 10.  Win 10 does no syncing to the Mac.

Hey Scott,

I dont think this is this the same issue as this one: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/cloud-posts-list-not-updating-up-in-post-processor...

But it sounds similar or at the very least related. The edited post is likely stuck in the upload queue in the same way as before - only in reverse. If they aren't uploading from Windows they should be stuck somewhere.

If you reopen the windows machine will they try to upload?

It's not my post processor files I'm having trouble with (although I haven't changed those, so I don't know if there's an issue there also), it's my tool library that's not syncing properly.

I restarted Fusion in my Windows laptop and added a new tool.  Then I looked on my Mac to see if it showed up, it did not.  So restarting Fusion didn't help.

I went online to my Assets > CAMTools folder and noticed the time stamp on my tool library had changes to a couple minutes ago.  So I downloaded the file and uploaded it locally to see if the new tool I added was there - it was.  It seems my Windows Laptop is syncing to the cloud, but my Mac computer is not going to the cloud and getting that file, it's just using some local cache.

Was Fusion running on the mac already?

No, I can only run Fusion on one computer at a time.  With a recent update, Fusion now checks to see if there's other instances running somewhere else.

Fair, but if you had it suspended it might still be an issue. But we can rule that out for now.

Its bizarre its only one way - that mac works but windows doesn't. Unless its being blocked from uploading where the mac is not.

Can you navigate to here:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<ALPHANUMERIC ID>\W.login\M\<ANOTHER ALPHANUMERIC/TIMESTAMP ID>\CAMTools

And find that it stuck?

Did some more testing.  Not sure if this helps or not.

Mac: cleared cache, Fusion restarted
Mac: Added tool #400 to cloud library
Mac: Closed Fusion
Win 10: Opened Fusion, opened cloud library - new tool (#400) was not there
Win 10: Cleared cache, Fusion restarted
Win 10: After cleared cache restart, checked tool library - new tool (#400) still not there
Win 10: Closed Fusion
Mac: Opened Fusion, checked tool library, tool #400 was not there
Mac: cleared cache, Fusion restarted
Mac: Opened Fusion after cache restart, opened tool library , tool #400 was not there
Mac: Added tool #401 to cloud library
Mac: Closed and restarted Fusion (didn't clear cache)
Mac: Checked tool library, tool #401 was there
Mac: cleared cache, Fusion restarted
Mac: Checked tool library, tool #401 was there
Mac: Closed Fusion
Win 10: Opened Fusion, opened cloud library - tool #401 was there
Win 10: Closed Fusion
Mac: Opened Fusion, deleted tool #302
Mac: Closed Fusion
Win 10: Opened Fusion, tool #302 was there, the deletion didn't sync
Win 10: Closed Fusion
Mac: Opened Fusion, tool #302 was there. So Win 10 didn't get the deletion, so then Mac synced up the this, the deletion was essential reversed

I did notice that my Assets > CAMTools does seem to be getting updated when I make a change, the timestamp will change to "Just Recently"

Not clear if you have this working or not. If not try this, on your mac in data panel Assets CAMTools folder rename the library that's not syncing, make sure your windows Fusion is closed down first. The library should then be renamed if you go to the CAM workspace and run the tool library manager, if not wait a few minutes as it can take a while to sync. You used to be able to set the sync time for cloud libraries but not now.

If the above works try starting the windows PC and see if it picks up the change.

I renamed the library, but I still saw syncing problems.  Here's what I did:

MAC: Renamed tool library via data panel
MAC: Added tool 410 and closed Fusion
Win 10: Opened Fusion and tool library - Fusion showed original library name, renamed library wasn't synced
Win 10: Closed and re-opened Fusion, waited a couple minutes. Now the renamed library was there along with tool 410. Looks like it just needed a few minutes to sync

Win 10: Added new tool #411
Mac: Opened tool library, the new tool(# 411) I added in Win 10 was there.

Mac: Deleted tool 401. Closed Fusion
Win 10: Opened Fusion, tool 401 was still there, it was not deleted. Waited a few minutes and checked again, tool 401 was still not deleted
Mac: Opened tool library, tool 401 was not there. Closed Fusion, didn't make any changes
Win 10: Opened Fusion, opened tool library, tool 401 was still there, not deleted. Cleared cache and restarted Fusion, opened tool library, tool 401 was not there. So clearing cache in Win 10 was necessary for the Tool library to sync properly

This has to be network related. I've been testing this over an over and i can't reproduce it. The new tool shows immediately upon checking. I've been doing the following:

  • Create tool (tested on both win and mac)
  • Close library
  • Suspend session from opposite computer
  • Open tool library
  • Tool shows no problem

The longest it took was about a minute but even edits pull right across. Its got to be something environmental to your network.

I have a good internet connection on both computers

Its far more than that. Anti-virus, firewalls, permissions etc. play the largest part in network issues over general network speed.

I've not experienced any of the issues you stated in this thread. Any tools created, edited, or removed, synchronize fairly flawlessly.

We even tested the above across users added to my hub. Something we could test on your hub as well if we need to.

How quickly after making a change are you closing? I was not closing at all but suspending sessions when switching.

I didn't close too quickly, because I wanted to give Fusion time to sync.  At least 5 minutes, sometime a lot longer I'm sure.  I always closed Fusion, I didn't to the suspend option.  I've got stock Mac OS and Windows 10 setup from a firewall, antivirus perspective.

Then i'm not sure. Something is blocking it from uploading or syncing properly. We've not been able to reproduce it.

We have a similar problem all the time, just between Windows PC's.

We use the cloud tool library. Changes made on one pc most of the time reflect on other pc's about 1 day later. Sometimes it takes longer, rarely it is faster.

They always show up correctly in the web, but in fusion we're not able to get them to sync / force a sync.

Ive been having the same issue lately across different computers and different accounts.  Another odd issue that was really problematic today is old libraries showing back up in the cloud tool library after being deleted 2 months ago and showing up out of nowhere while adding tools to a new library.  Been having more issues with tool libraries like that the last 3 weeks or so than used to happen, is this a common issue that may get fixed or do we need to find another solution?

I'm having the same problem. Scrapped a part yesterday because of the library not updating between computers. Any resolution to this yet?
