Clicking What's New freezes Fusion 360

Why does Fusion 360 freeze when I try to see What's New?

Before clicking it, many features (but not all) work correctly; after clicking What's New nothing works at all.

The features that don't work correctly are also linked to network activity so I am reasonably that if I could get the What's New link to work then other features might also return (Save As STL, for example).

The Screencast demonstrates how I can load a file normally but after clicking on What's New, nothing works.

After exactly 1:00 minute, the green scroller appears in the lower right hand corner and will stay there forever if I let it. What is it trying to connect to, and why is it failing?

What I have already tried:

  • Search the forums for similar issues
  • Fusion 360 Cleaner & reinstall
  • Update VC_redist.x64.exe
  • Proved that it is not connected with any file
  • Turned off firewall, antivirus, VPN
  • Update graphics card drivers
  • Uninstall my 3D Connexion mouse drivers

So far, nothing I have tried has made any difference. For those who remember me, yes this is the same problem I was having before. Things got 50% better after a new version was released but these issues remain.

Thanks,

Richard

What happens if you use your browser and go to the What's New Site outside Fusion 360?  Do you have difficulty with this.  By the way, your Screencast did not post.

Hi John,

Many thanks for taking a look at this issue.

My apologies, I forgot that the Screencast selector doesn’t work when you post. I have always had to paste a link in manually afterwards and didn’t remember on this occasion.

Here it is.

I should have said, I don’t have any problem visiting the What’s New page in a browser. Something installed on my desktop PC is preventing Fusion 360 from working correctly (it used to work just fine) and I have run out of ideas to figure out what it could be.

Regards,

Richard

I have just completed a full manual uninstall and reinstallation of Fusion 360 following this guide.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

Nothing has changed. I created a simple washer by extruding a hollow circle with no problem. As soon as I tried to save the body as an STL the program froze again. It has been in this state for the last 10 minutes.

Clicking anywhere on the window brings up this message.

I tried clicking on What's New again, just for good measure. Same problem.

Can someone please tell me what Fusion is trying and failing to do at this point?

I can't even close it down. I have to kill the process in Task Manager.
