Capture image crashes program

I have been using the "capture image" function for months. Today it has caused repeated crashes - just hourglass forever. I typically save at 8000 px width, locked aspect ratio, save as jpg to my pc. png has same problem. pc has an 3 yr old i7, 24 G RAM, lots of disk space.

capturing to the cloud works and the jpg shows up in the right project. But I cannot find a way of getting it from the cloud to my pc. Is there a way?
