Canvas disappearing after reediting sketch

When I create a sketch, then insert a canvas image so I can trace sketch lines over the image, the canvas disappears when I go back to reedit the sketch. Steps: create sketch, define rectangle for the canvas, insert canvas image, trace over the canvas then finish sketch. At this point the canvas is still there, but when I edit the sketch again the canvas is gone.

Following your workflow, you create a dependency between the canvas and the sketch.  Since the Sketch comes before the canvas, in the timeline, you cannot drag the sketch ahead of the canvas because of the initial dependency.  This is causing your issue.  In my Screencast I show you how to place the canvas and avoid this dependency so when you go back to edit the sketch it is after the canvas in the timeline so the canvas image is always visible.  Using the Calibrate command you can still scale the canvas to the rectangle size.

Hello!

I had the same issue, but for an easy solution I've found that I was actually able to just move the sketch after the canvas, instead of attempting to move the canvas before the sketch! The canvas was then visible again, and my issue resolved.

If that doesn't work for you, though, Mr. Hackney's solution is always available.
