Cannot sketch on body when sketch extruded using Loft

I created a sketch of a polygon and then used an offset plane at a setting of 12 inches and created a new polygon just a bit larger using a new sketch on the offset. I then use the loft tool to join the two polygons together. No problem doing all of that. The problem happens when I go to sketch on one of the side surfaces of the polygon. It won't let me. Whenever I try a new sketch and sketch a circle as an example the circle is in the center of the polygon, not the surface, or face of the body (I want to have a small circle about 1.5" in from the face of the smaller polygon). If create the body starting with the smaller polygon and then extrude to the length I need and set a value for the taper it all works. I can sketch on the body of one of the planes of the polygon.

Is there a reason Fusion won't let you sketch on the body of one of the planes of the polygon when it has been created using the loft tool to join the two polygons from the two sketches?

This will be because the faces are twisted and not flat, you can only sketch on planar surfaces or planes. If you export your f3d file and attach it will be easier to show the problem.

1. Did you fully define Sketch1 polygon?

2. Did you Project Sketch1 polygon into Sketch2 and Offset (or otherwise fully define)?

Thanks for the info. I didn't save it as I started over and instead extruded the polygon to 12: using the taper option. Same end result but was able to sketch on the surface. Thanks for the reply and I'll keep that in mind.
