Cannot make a Slider Joint with a Cylinder and an Axis *Need Help*

I am 16, and have been working on trying to design an in-line piston engine for over 35 hours(not in a row xD). I have often use the feature: Construct Axis through Cylinder so I can then connect a cylinder to it in a joint, and have slide up and down with the slider joint. I have been trying to attach a cylinder to an axis with a slider joint, but it is not working. I have tried making a new axis through the engine block tube that would hold the cylinder, but it still does not work. I'm sure it's a simple solution, and I'm probably just being stupid, but I am still relatively new to CAD, so some help from anybody would be greatly appreciated! Here are some images of the problem below, and I'll see if I can post the file as well.

Joints don’t recognise Construction geometry.  They use snap points on model parts.

(I don’t think I have ever used an axis for anything.)

Hover over / select the face of the cylinder, three centre points will highlight for selection, top centre and bottom of the cylinder.

Might help...

The model you gave us access to is not what your screen captures are showing.  Maybe you linked the wrong model?

In the Screencast I demonstrate how to quickly place a slider joint, no axis needed.  The pushrod will slide up and down but there is not way you can turn back on the revolve joint between it and the rocker arm and expect it to work.  You are going to have to have a way for the connection between the rocker arm and push rod to float because the rocker arm traces an arc which the slider joint will not allow.

Thanks so much, I guess I did not plan the rocker arm well, will have to redesign, but thanks!
