Cannot delete timeline group

Hi,

I'm having trouble deleting a timeline group.  It seems like it's just this group, the others are fine.  When I right click, I get the default context menu instead of the group context menu, and hitting delete does nothing.  I also cannot select the group in the timeline such that it turns blue, and I can't get my operation out of the timeline either.  So now I'm stuck.

Please attach your model, if possible, so the forum users can try and determine why your issue is happening.  It is impossible to tell what related factors could be causing this just from your Screencast.

Model attached.  I started deleting the other features to try to see if there was some kind of dependency, but I've pared it all the way down to the bare minimum and it's still there.  I also tried to recompute the model, but it doesn't help.

thanks for the model, @mah6786 - yeah, there is something strange with that second timeline group (I can delete the first one just fine, but the second one does nothing).  We'll take a look at it, and get back to you.

welp...  Found the problem.  This is a weird one, and a bad one.  Surprising that no one has found this before.  This gets bug-of-the-month award, and for now, bug-of-the-year and bug-of-the-decade award...

The problem is the name you have given the group:  "Motor/Gear Assy".  The problem is the "/" in there.  For some reason, this is considered an illegal character in the group name, yet the rename command allows it.  This prevents any operation on the timeline group, including, ironically, Rename itself.  Not sure why Fusion has a problem with the "/".  But, it should either allow it, or prevent you from entering it in the first place.  We will address this issue.  For the moment, I do not have a workaround for you (I was able to fix it in the debugger to test my theory).  Will get back if I come up with any way around it.

[edit] - the Fusion bug is:  FUS-58667

Thanks for figuring that out Jeff!  The funny thing is, when I was naming that group, I thought, "I probably shouldn't do this, there's no way it's going to let me put in a slash, but I'll try it anyway...hey, it worked!"

Quick update on this - With the April 2020 Release, we don't allow '/' character in the group feature name. Fusion will throw an error if you do so. Hope this helps to avoid landing up in the situation mentioned in the thread.

The issue unfortunately has not yet been entirely solved, since the German command of „CutPasteBodies“ (which is „Körper ausschneiden/einfügen“) is causing the same problem due to the backslash.

It would be great, if there was a solution.

Thanks so much

Hi @m.braig ,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I am able to reproduce the problem at my end and have raised the issue with the development team.

The dev team has logged a bug to investigate this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi,

I ran into the same issue yesterday, the group named "Körper ausschneiden/einfügen" (German for "CutPasteBodies") cannot be deleted from the timeline. I saw above that this was raised as a bug, is this solved yet?

Thanks,
Claus

I deleted the design and started over, but I made some screenshots.

CutPasteBodies_bug1.png

"Körper ausschneiden/einfügen2" would translate into "CutPasteBodies2" in the English version.

No Delete ("Löschen") command available. If I click "Umbenennen" (Rename), I can enter a new name, but the element is not updated/renamed.

Hey mah6786, this issue should be fixed in the update we just released.
