Fusion does not record the time that a project is open, only the save time is recorded.

It has been literal years (oldest thread I saw was in 2013) with multiple people asking for this feature in multiple threads and no basic implementation yet as far as I know. 😞

Yes! I so would like to see that finally come to life! It's simple things like this that can make the product much more valuable!

také bych tuto možnost rád využíval.

I would also like to use this option.

I have the same question. Very frustrating such a basic feature that does not appear to exist!

In the 30+ years I've worked with CAD professionally I've not seen a  single CAD or other 3D modeling product attempting to implement such a thing. There might be a reason for that!

There you go, STOP all innovation now. @TrippyLighting has declared that if he hasn't seen something in the last 30 years, no one needs it. Good thing no one listened to the old draftsmen who never used CAD and never saw any use for it.

My response was aimed this being a "basic feature". When I need to record hours for freelance work I occasionally do, I use an iPhone App called HoursTracker. That app has innovative features as they pertain to time tracking.

It would be silly trying to integrate that into a CAD app!

I have seen this request only a couple of times over a period of more that 9 years on this forum, so it isn't hotly requested at all.

What would take much higher priority is to get those "innovative" features finished that are already present in some form in Fusion 360. Still, today, a design I started 14 years ago and build several times since then stretches the limits of Fusion 360 to the breaking point.

That single design has helped to fix at least a hundred Fusion 360 bugs. We (EE's ) were asked if we had designs that could help test the Configurations functionality before it was released. I submitted this design. It approximated configurations using timeline trickery, derived assemblies etc.

When configurations finally were released I refactored it using Configurations. Again, this design was able to highlight several bugs and limitations.

I'd much rather have the Fusion 360 teams focus their work on finishing the functionalities they have already started than innovative stuff that is of limited use for the vast majority of professional users.

How has no one else brought up the fact that a person can approximate this time by looking over the version save time indexes? If I can do that, which will be annoying but doable, why can’t the software just take a “file open time” snapshot, then do all that math automatically? We’re not talking about a full feature, just ONE piece of extra data a handful of bytes long and one math equation.

There are some huge features that need a total rebuild of the package, and need months or years to implement (such as configurations). But there are also some really small, easy things in the UI that require very little effort to develop but change a lot from the user perspective. Those low hanging fruits often are for some reason outside the scope of interest of Fusion dev team.

Example: for me the most important feature from the last update was adding "show in location" feature in the Data Panel search. Lack of this fundamental functionality was driving me nuts for years, making the data search absolutely useless. I really don't understand why we had to wait 10 years for that.

I could list a dozens of similar small inconveniences that have not been addressed for years.

Same here 😉

But if I would have to prioritize, this time keeping feature would be in the bottom half of the list.

The "show in location" feature was near the very top of the list, along with many others that fall under the category "complexity management", which haven't been implemented yet.

I would really like to see this feature so I know what hours I've spend on any particular project or drawing, to help track time to value. Please implement this!

guys, this is free software so don't complicate it...
wait, isn't it free? Oh yeah... just don't complicate it...

integrating a stopwatch into software is probably unimaginably complicated... oh, wait it's not? however irrelevant...
