Can`t open project I created at home on my work PC.

Hi,

I have a problem when trying to open projects on my work PC, I created at home on my mac. This worked flawless for a year now. And out of nowhere I get the following error when trying to open some of my project. Some open just fine. But some don't.

I get the following error:

Unbenannt.JPG

I tried the following solutions:

- reinstalled Fusion on both machines

- repaired Fusion through the Utility Tool on both machines

- tried to safe the project to offline cache and setting Fusion to offline

- exported the project onto my mac, moved it to my work PC via a USB flashdrive, and tried to open it on my mac.
- tried to open older versions than v12 of the file down to v1.

None of this worked. I just can't open this projects anymore on my work PC.

Any idea if this is a known bug or there is a workaround? I need to access those projects.

@maxWU5JZ

Can you reproduce this issue with a new dummy project or do you see the behavior with only one particular project?

I have it with several problems. Not with all. I canā€™t try it now since I am at work.

When you get a chance can you:

1. Attach an example that exhibits this behavior

or

2. If you can't attach your original (proprietary data), can you recreate this behavior with a dummy and attach that project.

@maxWU5JZ @Can you confirm what version of Fusion you are at your work and at home? This message is Almost about opening a design saved in a newer schema in an older version. (I know the message it self does not help and we are actually improving the message to be very clear on the version problem. The update to messaging will be in our next update).

Making sure that both are on the same and latest version 2.0.18477 will resolve this issue.

Since I installed both computer fresh today I would guess it is the newest version on both. I checked for updates on work PC and it shows I am up to date.

No. I used the Insider build when the Apple silicone optimized version was available only through the insider build. But after public release I deinstalled the insider build version and switched to the public build. But this was months ago.

And everything worked fine until a few days ago.

@maxWU5JZ @When you are home please check and see what. Version you have.

if you are able to open files at home , open a file that could not at work and type in command line document.softwareversion and tell me what version you see the file was last saved in.

Command Line says:

"Document.SoftwareVersion

2.0.18714, version number: 134236442"

So it seems it is saved as an older software version. But how can it be. Even if I edit the file in some way and save it again. Close and reopen fusion. Comand line still says Software Version 2.0.18714.

How do I get it to update?

Edit: Okay, I ran the Installer again on my Mac. And it seems there indeed was an update Fusion didn't show me when "checking for updates". Now I can't access the file on my home Mac anymore. How can I repair the file?

@maxWU5JZ 2.0.18714 is our newer Insider version. You have saved it in a newer version that will to open in older version which is 18477 (current production) at your work.

We will be updating Production next week at which point both Insider and production will be in schema sync.

Okay. So if I install Insider build on both machines I should be able to work with this version till next week?

Okay, Thanks for the help. I didn't know I still ran the Insider build on my home machine. Interesting it worked out for so long with the non insider build on my work machine.

It's likely timing. We have not updated with a schema since January.
