Can't get materials to show on my model

I have made a simple model in Fusion 360, when I try to add materials to model to change the colour it just stays grey. Any idea what I'm missing?

Thanks!

In my Screencast, I activated the component before applying the material, it is not necessary, I just like to do it.  You have to be sure obviously to select a material that has a different color than gray, a lot of the materials are.  Select from the Fusion 360 Material Library is the best bet to test.  Your model-modified is attached.

it seems to work OK for me, see below.  Can you record a screencast of what you are seeing?

One thing to be aware of is that Materials (properties like mass...) are different than Appearances (colors).

I can make a block of wood have the appearance (but not the properties) of Gold, but you probably wouldn't pay me the price of gold for the block of wood.

Weirdly it worked straight away, I wonder if I was changing appearance rather than material?

Anyway, thanks for your help!
