Can't get Fusion 360 to open

Hello,

I have been trying to re-install Fusion 360 all mourning. The problem started I think with the recent Windows 10 upgrade. I installed Autodesk Slicer. When configuring Slicer, it opened Fusion 360 and Fusion 360 hasn't opened since without timing out with the time out windows wheel. I have tried disabling my AV and Firewalls but that doesn't help. Please help.

Thanks,

Andre

I am running the latest version of Windows, 2004, without any issue so I cannot believe that is the problem.  Your log file only shows some missing Registry entries but no other glaring problems.  Here is what I would do. NOTE:  All the steps listed should be done when logged into Windows using an Administrator account.  Download and use the Fusion 360 clean-up tool from this site.  When finished restart the system making sure to log back in using an administrator account.  Temporarily turn off User Access Control (UAC) for the account you are logged in with.  Re-install Fusion 360.  When finished, restart your system.  Try and run Fusion 360 making sure you have given it access through your firewall.

So I did all the previous things you said. Fusion 360 says it doesn't have access to the internet and then freezes. It's getting further than before. Any suggestions?

It may be my AV. I use Bitdefender. I think I know how to give Fusion 360 access through the firewall but I don't know where the Fusion 360 file is I will need to point Bitdefender to to do that.

You are running Windows operating system?  Bit Defender is an odd anti-virus application for Windows, at least in my opinion.  Anyway I will assume you are running Windows.  To find the Fusion 360 executable, right click on the Fusion 360 desktop application and choose Properties from the context menu.  in the Target field you will find the location of the executable.

John,

I was able to get Fusion 360 working again after a second exercise of manually uninstalling Fusion 360 as you had previously suggested. I noticed after reading your directions again that I did not restart my computer after installing Fusion 360 for the first manual uninstall. I did this after the second manual uninstall I performed.

I also did not disable my AV on the second install. I let my AV manage giving Fusion 360 permission to get through its firewall as this is what I did in previous Fusion 360 installs. I also found out that my Windows firewall was also enabled. It must have been enabled during my recent update to Windows 10 2004. I have permanently disabled the Windows firewall and only have my Bitdefender firewall running.

I think it was a combination of the restart after Fusion 360 install and allowing my AV to manage firewall access which made the difference.

All in all, I would still be dealing with this issue without your help.

Many Thanks!

I claimed victory too soon. When I closed the app and opened it again, I have the same problem. Any more suggestions?

You have to forgive me. I'm new to the forum. I have accepted more solutions.

I am having the same problem on macOS 10.13.6. I have to remove and reinstall Fusion360 in order to open it.

Did you recently update your machine?

Are you asking if I updated Fusion360 or my OS? My OS is not the latest
Catalina, still High Sierra.

Yes. I don't think it was my recent update to Windows. I was able to uninstall the latest updates and still no go. I'm going to try the suggestions here

I was able to get Fusion to run consistently using my wife's profile on my computer. Fusion will not run under my profile. Does that provide more clues to the problem that may garner new suggestions?

Thanks,

So let me get this straight.  When your wife uses her account to log into Fusion 360 it works.  I she logs out and you log in, without any other changes, it does not work?  If so, is she logged into your Windows account when she logs into Fusion 360 or is she using your Windows account?  Clarify all logins, Windows accounts, etc. when she can use Fusion 360 and when you cannot.

I am on a Mac and updated to the latest OS Catalina and this morning it auto-opened Fusion360 and provided an "Active Sessions Exceeded warning in Fusion 360 which is erroneous as I was not using Fusion on another computer unless there were multiple instances attempting to run on the computer I updated?

Fusion closed and then I could not open it again. Same behavior.

Sorry for the confusion. I login to my wife's Windows 10  account/profile on my computer. I installed Fusion 360 under her Windows 10 account. It works fine when I'm using her Windows 10 account while logging into Fusion 360 with my username and password. Her Windows 10 account is not admin. This is all on the same computer.

Ok, in an earlier post, I told you to log into your computer as the administrator and do all the banjo work of uninstalling and reinstalling Fusion 360.  You said you did and it ran until you started it again.  When you came back to the computer and tried to run Fusion 360, and it did not work, were you logged into a different account than the administrator account you installed it with???  If the answer is yes, that is the problem.  I use an account with administrator rights all the time  so I install and run on the same account.  Now if you logged in with the same account you installed Fusion 360 with and it did not work, this is all mute.  Read this.

There is only one admin account on this machine. Of course after updating
to Catalina, my 32bit standalone Eagle install no longer functions so I am
actually dead in the water now.
