The first thing I would have done is move the Canvas such that the Origin is at a logical location.
Edit: Also check the scale of your imported canvas image - when I start adding the missing dimensions the image is tiny.

Calibration merely creates an "approximately" dimensionally accurate basis for the creation of sketches.
However, the conditions for the sketch elements must be defined by the creator via dimensions and constraints.
As @TheCADWhisperer has already said, it is necessary to orientate the sketch at the origin.
