Can increase parameter, but can't reduce it

I'm still quite new, so this likely user error, but I cannot reduce a parameter back to a previously used value, only keep increasing it.

I started with someone else's parameterized file, and that shrinks or grows appropriately when I increase the user parameter NumUnitsX or NumUnitsY (by units of 2). I then added a 2nd body, designed as a tray that fits in the first body, to hold screwdriver bits.

Now, if I increase, for example, NumUnitsX from 4 to 8, it works. But when I reduce it moments later back to 4, I get "Warning: Sketch5
Compute Failed
Error: Chamfer2
1 Reference Failures
The edge reference is lost, try editing this feature to reselect the lost edge.
Compute Failed"

I have a sketch with an offset calculated off of another sketch to give a bit of tolerance for the 3d printed parts. I think this is the offset that is failing, but I don't know why.

I am not exactly sure what was the problem, but I suspect it happened because in Sketch 5 projection of body entities was used and when the dimensions decreased, under the hood some edges were replaced by new ones and thus projection connection was lost... Not certain about this hypothesis, but anyway when I used the base sketch for projection problem was solved. In the attached file you can increase or decrease without problem.

Please compare the design with your original, since I redrew Sketch 5 I had to edit downstream because some profiles and projections were lost.

Thanks, you definitely fixed it. I was guessing something similar.

I wish there were not so many complicated order of operation issues with parametric design.

The main challenge I am having is understanding what is linked to what, as it is hard to inspect a line and understand the relationship. Is there a way to highlight related objects to see which one is referenced?

Yes, there is a way to highlight the reference for projection: hit Edit Sketch for the sketch that contains projection, select a projection (colored purple), a small icon for projection constrain should appear (when seeing sketch from top view it may happen that you actually select not projection, but an entity beneath it, so try it in 3D view, and if needed hide other bodies and sketches). When you select the icon two highlightings will happen: in window (over the reference entity itself) and in the browser (dashed line under body or sketch that contains reference). Check out this screencast in which edge of the box, face of the cylinder and side of triangle (sketch line) are highlighted once I click the respective icon. However, in crowded design detecting this highlight can be challenging.
