[BUG] move tool selection not working as expected

I have an imported assembly from that came in at an odd angle.

Any attempts to select all components and move them together fail.

If I shift-select them in the browser and open the move tool only one of the components remain selected, the other "fall off" the selection.

If I window select them (top-right to bottom-left) the number of selected comports in the move tool UI varies but is always wronged the selection in the browser shows only one is selected and when actually attempting a move, only that component is moved.

Hey @TrippyLighting

Can you share the file with me?

Thanks!

I could share this model, but I cannot reproduce this behavior. However, looking at the screencast it is clear that this is happening and I am not imagining things.

I've had not shout down Fusion 360 twice today to rectify other selection problems. I created a sketch on a construction plane and projected some geometry. then I could not select that geometry.

Hi @TrippyLighting

@jeff_strater pointed out that this seems to be occurring just when 'translate' is selected. It works fine with Free Move. I'll go ahead and log this - there may be a reason why this is the case, but we'll find out once it's logged.

Cheers,

Karina

Hi @TrippyLighting

Jeff pointed out that to move multiple components, under 'direction', 'Design XYZ' must be selected in order to select multiple components. Presumably this is referring to component vs. global WCS and so the global must be selected in order to move multiple objects.

We do agree however that this could be clearer, and have recommended some updated text and tooltips.

Cheers,

Karina

@karina.harper @jeff_strater Thank you very much or the explanation! I agree that is not very clear.

@Jamie.Scherer The documentation on the move dialogue could really do with an upgrade and not just in this area 😉

Thanks @TrippyLighting I've asked that a section regarding Move Translation options be added to Product Documentation for Move. Is there anything else missing from the Move command documentation?

Thanks @karina.harper  and @Jamie.Scherer !

Let us know if there are any other items to add to this page, or really any pages. As you are helping people with questions you will surely notice other help pages that could use some clarification or additional details. I would love it if you sent those my way any time you find them.
