Bug! History marker disappears

If you hide the data panel and you have a long scrollable timeline the history marker will disappear at the ending space of the timeline.

To test that case, roll the history marker to the start point of the timeline. Then hide the data panel and drag the history marker to the ending space the timeline. You will see that it disappears at the same point as the data panel width is. 😉

Then you show the data panel the history marker is back again.

Hi @macmanpb,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Just to check - is it the same issue as the one documented in my screencast below?

Thanks,

Hi James.

No, here is my screencast from my iMac 27" and it is a GUI problem 😉

Hi @macmanpb,

I was unable to reproduce this behavior on my MacBoook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) OS X 10.11.6.

Are you experiencing this behavior with all designs or just that specific design in your screencast?

If you are only experiencing this behavior with this one design, could you share a public link to the design? Instructions for how to share a Fusion 360 design with someone can be found here.

I look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,

Hi Mike,

first you need a design that have a timeline that is long enough.

And yes it is in every design. (With a long timeline).

I have a iMac 27". If i work with fusion and use it fullscreen (Not fullscreen mode!) then i have that behavior.

When i drag the fusion window down to a smaller size like 15" the history marker is appearing with data panel and without.

That's funny.... 😉

Addition:

I found out, that has nothing to do with the data panel. It is a fusion window size problem.

Large Screens and a long timeline, thats the keys for your tests 😉

I have a 27"iMac as well and believe the screen size/resolution might have to do with it.

I can easily reproduce this behavior on my mid 2010 27" iMac (2560 x 1440 native resolution) When running Fusion 360 either in full screen or with max window size.

When I narrow down Fusion 360's window I cannot see that behavior anymore.

Independent of resolution one can also drag the timeline marker way past the end of the timeline to the right end of the Fusion 360 window.

Hi guys!

Thanks for the information! With it, I was able to log this behavior as a bug (FUS-27040). I have linked this forum post in the report, so if the developers have any questions or concerns they will be able to reach out to you here!

Thanks for keeping an eye open and letting us know when you come across these bugs! Your assistance in catching them is truly invaluable to us!

Is there any progress on fixing this bug and perhaps an ETA ?

When working with larger timelines it is getting to be a real nuisance. For example  I am trying to help this user with his model and rolling back the timeline marker returns really odd effects and given this annoying bug it is hard to discern whether this is "just" screen glitch or there's some other thing wrong with the model, or Fusion 360.

I'll check into it, @TrippyLighting.  It is clearly not fixed.  However, I can reproduce it on this model, so it is probably not platform or resolution specific, which is good/bad.  Makes it easier to track down and fix.

This bug has been identified and is fixed in our dev environment.  I believe the fix will go out in the next update.  There may be one step required to "fix" existing designs, but I've been told that this is possible as well.

Thank you for reporting this and supplying the model.

I am assuming ha thte fixed bug was the one presented in the video, not atualy the vanishing ot the timeline marker.

That is still happening, so the bug that's the title of this thread is not fixed.

Hi,

I have the same issue from time to time - history marker vanishes and moving in the timeline only work by right clicking and 'roll history marker'.

Today I noticed that it really only appears on the right side of the screen. It's a 1440x3440 widescreen and at around 2400px the marker vanishes - see the screencast. Should be reproducable with any long timeline - i attached my testfile.

Thanks for fixing the bug!

Approaching 2 years and this bug is still not fixed.

@Anonymous, can someone respond and confirm that this issue has been logged into the defect tracker . . .
