Bug: Error Report Email Issue - Doesn't accept obscure domains

Seems the Error report has been updated so now it asks for your email before it sends, unfortunately it tries to check the email is valid and it wont accept non-traditional domains. E.g. it will accept bill@autodesk.com but wont accept bill@autodesk.fusion (i made this example up)

My email domain is not .com or any country domain (.co.uk) its just a word, so now I can't send any error reports and that is one of the most common things I do with Fusion.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting. Are you talking about crash reports? If so, please help me with a few more details.

The new crash reporting system asks for your email, but so did the older one. And when I send a report with an address like you describe, I get a clean/complete report. This is from the test crash I just made.

What indication does Fusion / crash reporting give you that your email is not accepted? I ask because I can see three recent reports from your email address in the month of November. I think the system is tolerant of your email address, and based on your recent post from December 2, that perhaps your machine or network may be causing issues.

Hi Phil,

It is a new window I have not seen before, so I assumed it was an update. Normally It just asks if I want to send a report after it crashes, and if I select yes, it opens a webpage. This time a new window opened with a text input box for me to type any comments and then an email box underneath, when I clicked "send" another window opened asking me to use a "valid email address". The crash and error report happened today and is the first time I have seen this particular window.

Cheers,

Thanks for the details. If it happens again, please take a screenshot of the error and post into a reply.

Thanks I've notified the crash report team. It appears that the improvements that appeared in the November 2021 release include stricter filtering. It may be an oversight.

@gtprototype thanks for sending in the 4 reports you sent during 2021!

@tonySWCR2 There are a couple options for you.

1. Do not enter an email address. The system accepts reports without an address. This is still useful to me because I see report totals (via automated reporting tools) whether or not there's an email. So we can track the crash trends anyway.

2. Use another email address that will be accepted. The benefit of this is if there is a technical solution available, you'll get an email at one of your email addresses from the crash system. Also, if have questions about crash reports you send I could still email you at that alternate address.

Meanwhile we'll look into the change and see about fixing it. Thanks for the heads up!
