Less than 2 weeks ago i updated f360 and 4 out of 6 times since the update the fn360 will give me an error code of unable to connect to the internet......and not open up.

Today it was 2x with me logging in between the attempts. Why am l forced to pollute the world by driving into town to do nothing more than log in and maybe up date if there is one. Then punished when l get home by being denied access. Its hard to get ready for school with this manipulation of my time.

This is not the first time l have asked for help. Thaks

Hi,

It sounds like you are using some kind of firewall or proxy server.

Could you please describe why you must do these things and what sort of networks you are using, and why? It's not clear to me by reading your post.

It would also help to gather diagnostic logs. I'm happy to take a look. They should show any network activity like this.

I do not know what ‘things’ you are referring to.
The title says it all. My home is off grid ie no internet access. Fn360
gives me a ‘sign in failure’ error and will not open 8 of 10x l open it. I
do the updates when needed. So wtf?

@Phil.E  I had the same a few days ago. I finally managed to get fiber at work and while I was switched over I had no broadband for a while. I made the mistake of rebooting my PC after connecting to the new router and Fusion just would not start. I've seen several posts about this problem, surly Fusion should start when there's no internet connection if it was running only a few minutes or hours before.

Here's another thread with the same problem.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/f360-won-t-start-without-internet-connection/m-p/1...

Thanks Mark

Hi Phil,

For 3 months now, with 1 day interruption (after an update), I can't start Fusion offline.
Clean Uninstall/install did not lead to success even with a 2nd user.

Only if I put Fusion in offline mode before closing it, I can start it offline again afterwards.
Meanwhile I have swallowed the toad for now.

@g-andresen @HughesTooling if you can make this happen again, please attach some logs.

I was able to reproduce it once, but now it works as expected, launching me in offline mode. I've logged a ticket for this to investigate why Fusion doesn't start in an offline state when internet is disconnected (sometimes).

Thanks for reporting this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@Phil.E  Looking at this link it looks like you're supposed to put Fusion into offline mode before you shutdown. If that's the case it's not good as you don't know ahead of time if you might get to work one morning and find you have no internet connection and be left with no way to start Fusion.

Thanks Mark

@HughesTooling that looks like an error. The as designed behavior is exactly what I just described. I need to contact support and have them add new wording here. That article is a workaround for a bug, near as I can tell.

  • If you close Fusion while logged in and connected to internet
  • And internet is lost
  • Starting Fusion should put you in a logged in state, while working offline, with plenty of UI to tell you this is what's happening.

Are you saying you can reproduce the issue at will? I cannot. I reproduced it once, and then it worked perfectly about a dozen times. I spent a valuable hour yesterday trying to make it fail. If you can reproduce it at will, attach logs.

Here is what I'm seeing while testing this workflow. This is also the intended behavior.

After starting Fusion while completely disconnected from Internet:

Correct behavior 1.PNG

Then checking Job Status:

Correct offline response.png

This is the intended behavior, allowing you to run Fusion if you start it while no internet is available, having previously closed Fusion while logged into your account.

I can not start fusion while completely disconnected from the internet. I
get the error page then fusion (ie the F symbol with the 'sign in
failure' comment) shuts down.

@Anonymous

Are you

1. Logged into Fusion when you shut it down, without logging out, prior to trying to open it, without any internet?

2. Can you please provide a screenshot?

3. Can you connect to the internet, open Fusion, and gather diagnostic logs for me?

Does it

1. Repeat 100% of the time, after the above condition 1?

2. Require any other factor not mentioned here?

Allow me one more time....................no internet where I
live.........while where i live I turn on my computer .............wait for
it to boot up................Click on the F symbol on the task
bar...............Fusion opens to the point of the error page then fusion
(ie the F symbol page with the 'sign in failure' comment) shuts down.
............

ALternatively I try to open a fusion drawing saved that was saved to my
computer that was previously closed in the 'off line'
mode.................and again ...................Fusion opens to the point
of the error page then fusion (ie the F symbol page with the 'sign in
failure' comment) shuts down. ..................BLOCKING me from working
again.

Okay. Thanks.

If you could connect to the internet, start Fusion, log in, and not close Fusion, and also switch to Offline, could you then use Fusion at your internet-less location?

I'm not sure what to advise you here, other than an internet connection is required to operate Fusion fully. And in your situation, an internet connection is required in order to reconnect to Fusion to enable working without internet at your home in Offline mode. There may be a bug here, but I cannot reliably reproduce it, which is why I'm asking for clues. But understand, at some point Fusion will cease to operate without internet, and that is by design, and explained in our support documentation.

Please let me know when the as-designed behavior fails, logs will help.

*I have never logged off at any point after using F, It has worked (F
opening up in offline mode) sporadically after logging in from a site with
internet and updating every 2 weeks +/-.

@Phil.E  I went through a similar procedure to what I went through when I switched over to fiber and had the same problem with Fusion not starting.

First unplug my router from the phone socket so I'm still on the network but no internet. After a while Fusion flags up there's not internet and switches to offline.

Next close Fusion and closedown my PC also switch of my router.

Restart my router then my PC. Router's still not plugged into the phone socket.

Try starting Fusion and get these errors.

At this point only way to start Fusion is to reconnect to the internet.

Thanks Mark. I'll add that to the case. It does seem a bit more involved than the testing I've been doing. My test is simply to cut off the internet, as if someone took their computer away from a wifi router, or unplugged the cable. I did not try a test like yours, which seems to more closely follow the pattern of catastrophic loss of internet and power (or manual shut down). I'll put this angle into the report.

@CGBenner  Think it's still a problem. Someone made a report a few days ago here and the reply from support is wrong and not addressing the problem. The user is finding he needs to connect to the internet after a few days not 2 weeks, he has accepted the reply but if you read the message the 2 week timeout is not the problem. The title and message are not really worded well.

Thanks Mark

@CGBenner I'm not sure what you are expecting for resolution. The bug report was logged (FUS-87254) couple weeks ago and the team has not had time to take it up.

In all the cases, closing Fusion is a key step. Has anyone tried to work under these conditions (catastrophic loss of internet) and not close Fusion? It would help the case if we found out Fusion cannot continue running when internet is lost, without the user taking the action to shut it down.
