AutoSave Failure/Bug Windows10

I was working on a project yesterday for a couple hours and neglected to save.  The option for opening a recovered document is greyed out. I read this and checked the CrashRecovery directory, but it is empty. The log file is a bit confusing to me but seems to show "Untitled" was saved.

I suspect my computer went to sleep after a period of time and Windows perhaps closed Fusion automatically. If this is the case, Fusion's autosave behavior is flawed because the save file is deleted upon a soft closing, which can happen accidentally or be forced without user's knowledge/consent.

I just read recently that you have to save your project first before the auto save starts saving. The best way to start is save the project first before doing anything else.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of the trouble.

As stated the autosave kicks in once the design has been saved.

However the temp file may be located on your hard drive. To check:

  1. Launch File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\{alphanumericguidfolder}\W.login\F
  3. Look for any F3D files.
  4. If found, copy to a new location, rename (keep the F3D extension), and upload via the Data Panel.

Thanks, that's a great tip.  I tried this after losing a bit of work today. I was able to locate a file but because of the recent Fusion update (not allowed to save files) it seems like no modeling data was recorded. I should have completed the update before modeling, but it is still frustrating.
