[ATTN!]: Fusion 360 Command Menus (Create, Modify) opens upward offscreen

Hi all,

After the latest April update - it has come to our attention that when clicking on command menus such as Create, Modify etc, the menu is opening upwards and off the screen.

We have determined the root cause and are working on fixing it ASAP! I will post back here with an update when we push the fix live. Right now the menu opens upward if it cannot open its full length downward, rather than centering in the screen. Generally this is causing by excessive display scaling, or by having the screen resolution set to a height that is smaller than the menu needs to open normally.

To workaround this issue, while we fix this (Fusion 360 Can Remain Open):

  1. In the Windows start menu, search Display Settings and select the Display Settings
  2. Change ONE of the following options and test inside Fusion after saving the setting:
    • Under Display Settings, turn down the display scaling (try 100% and work your way up with testing - depending on how scaled it needs to be readable for you)
    • Change the resolution to have a height greater than 900 as shown in the screenshot below
  3. Save your settings when you find one that works

Let me know if you have any questions or need help. A screenshot of your Display Settings would be most helpful in diagnosing this if you still need help.

I know this can be frustrating but one helpful tip - hit the 'S' key in Fusion 360 to bring up your Modeling toolbox which you can type and find any command you are looking for. Also, I will update this thread as SOON as I have more information.

Thanks,

We have deployed an update earlier today, that fixes this problem. Please let us know if you are still facing this issue.

@Anonymous We have already deployed the update. You should be on 2.0.8156 to see the fix. Please restart Fusion and that should start downloading the update. Once download is complete, restart Fusion again.

Hmmph. Several hours and several restarts later, there is no update. Is this update preventing updates? Yikes!

The April update also thinks I'm not a registered user, but surely that is just coincidence and not another bug.

@Anonymous Is there an error that you see in the job status (typically where the update is indicated)? Would you be able to go to Help->Support & Diagnostics -> Diagnostics login and attached the zip?

This will also help to look into why you are not seeing yourself as a registered user.

@Anonymous We checked for your license at our backend and it does show that it expired. With the log files I could not determine though what license you had. It looks like it genuinely ended. Where you on a trial? Were you a hobbiest? if you were on a trial you should be able to extend into either a student or hobbiest or commercial license.

Regarding the update to the latest build, we are not able to find enough evidence of why you cannot pick up the live update (The logs shows that your machine checks for it and it returns that there is no update). Unfortunately at this time , uninstalling and reinstalling is the sure way to get to the latest build.

Hi Guys!

I solved the problem like that on my notebook.

Display Resolution 1920 x 1080

and the most important Scale Layout reduce to 125%.

I hope this setting could help you.

Thank you
