Attempting to Import a QR code in SVG format - Only some of the QR imports??

So as mentioned above I have generated a QR code using a free trial website (QR IO) and have downloaded it onto my pc as an SVG. I can open this SVG in other software such as Inkscape. However when I choose to import into Fusion360, Only some of the border imports, and none of the actual QR code lines/dots. I've tried saving it as Inkscape SVG and then importing, but I just get errors from Fusion. I cant understand why some of the data within the SVG could go missing. Hoping someone might have some bright ideas of what could be going wrong here.

Thanks!

Hi,

The data area of the code is only in pixel graphics and not in vectors.
It is also not possible to trace it in Inkscape.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you why that is.

After a lot of trial and error (more error then trial🤔) I converted your SVG to paths in Inkscape. SVG file attached.

Here imported into Fusion.

Hi,

Can you tell which way the tracing in Inkscape succeeded?

I find Inkscape a bit of a mystery but I think I have it figured out for this.

First click near the middle of the svg image to select, then on the edit menu select make a bitmap copy. Then  select Trace Path from the path menu and save as a plan SVG. Seems like Make Bitmap Copy adds a bitmap to the root but also save a bitmap to the same directory the SVG is saved in.

Hi,

Thank you very much for this tip.
I was not aware until now that bitmaps can only be trotted after a copy has been created.

@harrydawson500
However, for use in an extrusion in Fusion, there is still the necessary separation when selecting profiles based on the bitmap.

stoked. have been able to make this work now. I have used object to path feature in inkscape for other things but didn't know necessary to make a bitmap copy first. This has done the trick and Ive been able to extrude it into fusion. Cheers for both your help. 😄
