Arrange not 'fitting' components

I have a situation where arrange won't 'fit' components in the sketch area even when I can place it manually with the 'move' command and place it within the sketch area. I have spacing and frame set to zero and not sure why it won't arrange component. Thanks in advance...

p.s for some reason the dialogs boxes don't show in video, but hopefully you get the idea.

Please share your design (export as .f3d) and attach to post.

Also, can you explain what you are trying to accomplish with the operation?

The Align tool is not a good tool in timeline based designs.

Hey @TrippyLighting

I am trying to lay this component flat using the arrange command so I can create a setup in manufacture.
The arrange sketch has room to fit this component when I set frame and object spacing to zero but it returns an error of 'not enough space' in the sketch. I can manually fit it in the space though. Rotations are set to global.
I tried in the 'nesting' feature too but no luck there either. See attached file

It looks like it has to do with grain direction. If I toggle the grain direction I can get the component to fit in the sketch area. The question now is, how do I get arrange to ignore grain direction and just fit the component on the sketch area in the most economical way possible? Thanks @TrippyLighting!

This is driving me crazy. I want to ignore grain direction with material that has no grain. I have the nesting and Fabrication extension and have to often resort to manual placement because of this. I can find nothing on how to turn off or ignore grain searching online or in the documentation.

This is a big issue trying to nest larger assemblies.

Does anyone know if grain can be turned off, ignored?

I think your envelope width, 120mm, is unrealistic to have this work.  It is tight as it can be with an envelope of 150 x 195 mm as you can see.

I'm not sure if you're replying to my comment.

The part you referenced is not mine.

I am trying to find out if there is simply a way to disregard grain. If I'm nesting in plastics or solid surface materials, there is no grain and it becomes unproductive to try to manipulate dozens of part grain directions to get a usable nest.

I'm hoping it is something simple I missed as opposed to not be an option. We had to upgrade to the nesting and fabrication extension as they "Graduated" advance arrange.

This is the first issue I ran into after paying for the nesting and fabrication extension. Crazy this is the only optimizer that I cannot ignore grain direction. I have to manually adjust all my nesting!

Does your selected material have a "grain"? Would you be able to share your Fusion file here?

Where in fusion 360, in the design or manufacturing space, can you specify a material as having grain or not? The only options I see are grain angle.

No, not really. It's based on the visual appearance that you apply to the part. That said, Arrange/Nest is just going to fit the parts in as best as it can unless you override it with a grain direction.

The Arrange toolpath does not consider grain direction at all. What exactly are you running into?

Thanks for fast respond,

I want to arrange wood composit part for manufacturing, but I want to ignore grain direciton sinbce material does not have grain.
For the moment I need to adjust the grain angle direction on each pieces. Some of them are very "organic" and it's difficult to find the correct angle. So I would like to just says to fusion "no grain on this material, put it in whatever direction it fits the best" but couldn't achieve that

Please attach your model and be sure and indicate what components you are trying to Arrange.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.
