Archiving of a Folder-level Project resulted in losing permissions

Hi, I have not been able to retrieve any of my data from several projects after archiving them. When attempting to archive from within Fusion 360, the program states "All security roles assigned will be lost". When attempting to restore them from Fusion Team, the browser states "Permissions previously applied will not be restored".

I'm confused as to where these projects and files have gone, as I'm the only member of my team and the only person to have ever accessed these files.

Hi @jri6 can you clarify the issue?

Are you trying to un-archive a FLP project and it's failing? Those warnings you're seeing are basically just saying that the user permissions assigned to the project will be removed - the data will remain. When you unarchive you will need to re-assign those permissions. You can hit 'ok' in that unarchive view in Teams and it will restore the project.

Does that help?
Karina

Hi @jri6

Actually - we have been able to replicate the issue. When un-archiving an FLP project (that contains data), the project doesn't un-archive and does not appear in the Projects list. We have reported this internally as ATEAM-39294 so the team can look into it. Is there data in these projects that you need access to immediately?

From a bit of investigation, it seems that this is a permissions issue. The project is getting restored, but all permissions are lost (including the admin) and can't be resolved as the project can't be accessed, creating a closed loop.

Cheers,

Karina

None of the data is required urgently or immediately, but thank you for asking. Please keep me updated with the ATEAM-39294 issue, and thank you for the help!

Hello,

I have the same problem with a project, as described above.

Is there any news on this topic? Or a solution?

With kind regards,

@karina.harper I just ran into this issue. Was there ever an actual solution? Restored an archive for my robotics team and no one had their roles restored, including myself. Now no one can see the files that were stored in the project.

@AmazingSpanoMan this should have been resolved in August last year. @porkodi_autodesk @Andy.Spivey related to ATEAM-39294

I archived over the weekend and when trying to bring it back I got an error. Then it magically popped up in the projects but everyone, including myself, had no roles. So I couldn't do anything at that point and it looks like all the files were deleted because I don't have permission to view the project.

It actually occurred again for me earlier this year, so I made another post regarding the issue and was assisted in retrieving my files. I've since refrained from creating folder-level projects to avoid the issue altogether.

Hi @AmazingSpanoMan - sorry to hear about the issue. Can you send me a direct message with your Hub ID and project name and I can get a ticket logged with the engineering team and we can investigate and get this addressed for you?

Thanks for the heads up @karina.harper

@Andy.Spivey I'm trying to dm you but it says I hit the max number of private messages. (I haven't sent any PMs ever LOL). I'm going to wait a couple minutes and try again.

Hi @clief_castleton,

For the recent issue noted above, we needed to look up some account details - can you send me a direct message with your email and I can get a ticket started with the engineering team to investigate and resolve?

Thanks!

I am also having this issue where i lose permissions when i restore a project and then it sits in limbo where i can not arcive it again and it will not show up in data panel even though it shows as active in team hub. @Andy.Spivey i have DM you with some of my info, hopefully this can be fixed soon as we are in very desperate need of access to some old projects.

Same problem.  There is only ONE project which I cannot restore (un-archive).  All the other projects are fine.  Is it possible that ONE project became corrupted?  Otherwise, I am getting the same error message that everyone else got:

Permissions previously applied within this project will not be restored.

Hi  @lennypop - the dialog / message of "Permissions previously applied within this project will not be restored" is expected.  The issue we've been discussing / addressing in this thread is when after restoring there is an error banner stating an error and the project is inaccessible.

If you are seeing that issue / behavior, please send me a direct-message and I can get a ticket logged with the engineering team to review and address!
