Applying appearance to fragmented surface

I have a mountain shape surface that is imported from a .skp file. I have transformed it to a solid but it has still a triangled surface. So when i apply an appearance to render it is not seamles. it puts the same appearance in every triangle however it is part of the same object. Is there a way to work around this problem?

Hi @philippewolthuis

Could you please share some screenshot of what is happening? Also, it would be great if we could have the F360 file here so we can see how to overcome the issue.

Hi @philippewolthuis

Try selecting Faces in Appearance window

Hello Sutherland,

Thanks for your reply. Here is a screenshot of the problem. I have tried to merge the triangles but eventually that changes the object into a really messed up sculpture:)

Hi @philippewolthuis

The attached image is difficult to understand.

Could you please share the design? You can export by File>Export *.f3d/*.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply.

Hi @philippewolthuis

I see you are in Direct modelling.

You can assign appearance on the Face in Parametric Modelling.

For this, Right-click on the top node of browser (prijs 2023) and select 'Capture Design History'

Note: Fusion 360 has limitation to apply 3D materials on the face.

@sutherland- Thank you for pointing me out, i missed to read above reply with attachment.

hello Sujay,

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your help. However, I can't figure out how modeling in/with capture design history makes any difference. I've made a mold of the object and recreated the form again but it still has all the triangle faces but fusion still does apply the appearance on every triangle...

greets Philippe
