Appearance - Material library (dis)order

I have been writing this post for a long time.

Since the upgrade to the new user interface has been made, the material library (under "Appearance" command) has become messy. That is, the materials are divided by folders and internally in alphabetical order but there are many problems.

In detail:

  • The "Miscellaneous" and "Other" folders are the duplication of the same concept and should be condensed into a single "Other" folder. Inside them, there are a lot of duplicate sub-folders: Base Materials, Carbon Fiber, Emissive, Gemstone, Ground Plane and Rubber. (See Img01)
  • There are some materials (such as "Leather") that are divided into different folders ("Fabric" and "Leather and Cloth") and should be grouped together in a common folder. (See Img02)
  • Inside all the folders, there are materials placed in sub-folders and materials outside, with the result that it becomes difficult to identify what you are looking for. In my opinion, each material should be part of a subfolder and, if it could not be cataloged, it should be placed in a "miscellaneous" subfolder. (See Img03)

Please take a look at this mess because it's time to tidy up this room 😁😉

Best Regards,

Francesco.

Yes we are aware of all of this. Nobody is working to fix it at this time.

In the mean time, use the search function to find materials, or put them into your favorites or cloud materials for ease of use.
